On This Day

In the spring of 2020, we released a feature into the admin area called On This Day, which highlights past content created on a specific date. To further expand on this feature, we have now added a landing page to display your historic content.

The On This Day landing page gives fans a chance to review past stories, videos, photo galleries, games and podcasts for the current day or they can choose to view content from several previous days as well.

The content displayed can be managed via the On This Day section. Here you can choose to mark content as visible or even as featured content which will have it display at the top of the page.

We also added settings to hide pregame stories and games with losses giving you the flexibility to let the page run on its own or manage the content manually. To toggle either of these off, click the 'On This Day Settings' link and un-check the boxes accordingly. Providing further customization, there are three different layout options to choose from, each with a variant that includes a right column showing recent news.

This update also adds a new section into SIDEARM called Sport Impact Images. Found in the Site Settings->Sports accordion, the Sport Impact Images area will allow you to upload high quality cover photos for each sport. For their first use, the images will serve as the header of the On This Day page and will rotate through sports typically in season each month.

If looking to locate a specific piece of content in the feature, you can search by sport, year, date, and content type on the admin side.

The On This Day page can be viewed or linked to by adding /on-this-day or /otd to the end of your domain.
